The Vetrov name comes with expectation.
My role in this world is simple: do as Father asks and live my life how he planned it.

My future is already written: run the empire.
Old Values. Old Rule. Old Money.
Until her.

Everything I do lacks purpose.
Everything I do is empty.
Women. Money. Power. It meant nothing.
Until her.

When the Volkov rose showed up at my home a disgraced package, hand-delivered by a Vasiliev prince, I began paving my own path.
I vowed to make her bloom once more.

She consumed me.
Her. Her. Her.

But you can’t love a rose and expect not to be damaged by her thorns.
She cut me too deep.
And I bled out.
My soul fled.
All that’s left is a cold, calculating monster.

I am Veniamin.
Volcanic. Victorious. Valiant. Vetrov.
When you enter my world to play games, prepare to lose.
In the end, I always find the thorn in my side, and I pluck it right out.

About Ker Dukey

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.
My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

Review:

This is one of my most awaited series installment in 2018. When I read Vlad early this year, I was instantly hooked into the vicious world of the Russian mafia. I love how the story of The V Games intertwines with one another. The unrepentant ruthlessness of each character will make you want to hate them all but you can’t help but love them nonetheless. That was especially true for Veniamin “Ven” Vetrov, the revered V Games champion and one of the heirs to Russia’s mob royalty. I loved that despite everything he had been through, he still had a soft spot on Diana Volkov.

Though it was never in the works for them to be together, fate somehow managed to bring them closer to each other. Diana who was shunned by her own family from her past indiscretion took refuge in Ven’s arms. I loved how the authors did not hold back in revealing the atrocity of the mob world and how the characters suffered (in one way or another) from the consequences of living their lives in the criminal world.

But amidst all of that, Diana remained victorious. In a world that took everything from her, she was able to get retribution with a vengeance. I love how the authors portrayed the contrast between the two Volkov sisters – Diana and Irina. They were as different as night and day but they still found a way to carve their own place in the Russian mob. In the end, Diana was able to get her revenge on the people who betrayed her. It was stunning how the authors narrated her victory in the V Games. It was like watching a scene straight out of the Hunger Games!

Diana is one badass woman that didn’t need a knight to slay dragons for her because she slew them herself. That alone is enough of a reason to give this book a 5-star rating it deserves.

Review:

I have been intrigued with Alfie ever since I had the chance to read about him in the Seasons of Betrayal series by London Miller and Bethany-Kris. And when I found out that London Miller was making a standalone novel on Alfie Shelby and Vera Markovic, all I can say was, “Hell yeah!”

I was already a big fan of Alfie and Vera while I was reading the Seasons series. They are just one of those sub-plot characters that you root for from the get-go and thus, reading Acquainted was such an absolute treat for me. I just simply love how natural their world intertwines with each other. The plot line and the pacing was just right. It was engaging enough that you would want to turn the page of the book chapter per chapter until you find yourself surprised that you are actually at the last already.

London Miller has always been an amazing storyteller. And this is one of those books that will prove that fact. The story was told from alternating POVs of Alfie and Vera. Between the complications of a mafia fixer and a Bratva princess, you would never have thought that their relationship could actually work. But somehow, they did manage to fall in love in a twist of fate that managed to put them together in the right place at the right time.

The push and pull between the characters coupled with the complexity of their universe make this book so greatly intriguing that you would want to read it all in one day. On a side note, I loved how this book’s plot also intertwines with the Seasons series. It made me want to revisit Kaz and VIolet’s story all over again. With the kind of stories that London and Bethany creates, I can’t wait to read more books from the Seasons universe!

The Vasiliev name is a powerful one.
We rule with an iron fist and we do it well.
Being the eldest, I am Father’s best hope at keeping us at the top of the food chain.

Everything I do has purpose.
Everything I do has reason.
Until her.

I play my games thinking several moves ahead.
Power. Power. Power.
Until her.

The next move requires I marry and soon.
This will strengthen us and secure our position.
But I am not to marry her.

I am to wed the eldest Volkov.
Problem is, her younger sister is the one who awakens my dead heart.
It is her I want in my bed and by my side forever.
Her. Her. Her.

In this game, though, it’s not about what I want.
But maybe it can be about what she wants.

I am Vlad.
Vile. Vicious. Villainous. Vasiliev.
And I will win eventually.

Review:

I was pleasantly surprised with the gripping plot line of this book. The moment I sat down to read it, I just couldn’t take it off my hands until the end. The power play between the Russian families was such a treat to read, especially for someone like me who is partial to reading about organized crime.

I love how each chapter changes from the transition of perspectives from Vlad and Irina seamlessly. Their provoking thoughts and steamy chemistry will have you hooked for their romance from the get-go. Partner that with the intrigue and deceit of the Russian mob and the V Games, well it just created one great love story.

It was endearing how much Vlad cared so much about Irina, even when he was trying so hard to hide it. In the end, it was inevitable to conceal their feelings for each other. Their forbidden love got me so invested that I couldn’t wait to turn the pages and find out how they get to have their HEA.

That last chapter got me so intrigued in the end though! I cannot wait to read more about Diana and Ven in the next book! I’m absolutely certain that it will be as great as this one!
